Questions on Time, advertising, what club's have to do
-
What time will the event be advertised for and will that be on the brochure?
Will we get a copy of the brochure to print up and put in our club?
How will we know how many people are interested or will we just cater and hope that people turn up?
Do we have to do any advertising in our local community? -
Great questions Sue. Here's some brief answers reflecting our thinking to date:
Time of day: afternoon seems to be the preferred time of day, and ideally every club would be starting at the same time (because this makes advertising easier), but this may not suit everyone. More on this to come.
Event graphic: yes, the Croquet & High Tea graphic will be available for all clubs. They will be able to print it out as a flyer or poster (costs charged to the grant), and it will also feature in online promotions (CAQ website, club websites, Facebook & Instagram, etc.) Our brief for this graphic is that it will be something professional and timeless -- think the sort of travel posters that get framed because they're so eye-catching/arty/beautiful.
We're planning on the graphic being finalised ready for clubs by the 1st week of February.Numbers: potential guests will be invited to sign up to participate (just as the clubs were invited to participate at their level). We will ask for information about where they live so that we (the managers behind the scene) can direct them to their local club. We will also let that club know rough numbers (there's always no-shows & late-comers) to help with their planning for the event.
Advertising: While CAQ will be responsible for the whole-of-state promotion, we hope that clubs will jump on board to manage their local marketing. Every region is different and has different connections & contacts, eg community women's groups & clubs, local councils, local sponsors, friends & family.

Hi everyone
I suggest that clubs invite specific other organisations such as local Community centre, Red Cross, CWA, genealogy groups., where there are usually a large number of women who would not normally come into contact with croquet. The more the merrier. As long as there are a good number of club members to show them what it’s all about.
