Croquet and High Tea is a fantastic idea. We did a "ladies" High Tea at Merthyr for members a year or so ago, it was a great day and we all enjoyed ourselves. As we work with our volunteer members at Windsor, for this high tea where the public will be invited, we'll keep a note of our "challenges" and share (as requested). Thank you for your great work! At Eildon we are very conscious of the fact that the club lives or dies on the efforts of our volunteers. We are very fortunate in having a strong culture that supports volunteers, although a big issue is that it really is only a fraction of our membership base who are able or willing to put themselves forward regularly. Like many croquet clubs, we also have an issue with the age of our membership, and the need to have realistic expectations of what they should be asked to do. Whenever possible, we work to upgrade our facilities and processes to make life easier for our volunteers. Things such as applying for grant funds to purchase self-propelling mowers, to cover insurance costs so that club funds can be diverted to other needs.
