What constitutes "high tea"?
-
Does our club need to go the full tiered plates & cucumber sandwiches, or is devonshire acceptable?
-
I want to know this too. What do people expect at a "High Tea" do you need the full fancy china experience, or is yummy cakes and slices all that matters?

The notion of 'high tea' can be as diverse as the clubs hosting it, and that’s precisely the charm! At its essence, a Devonshire tea featuring scones and tea fits the bill perfectly for a 'free' event. However, the beauty of this event lies in the creative freedom it offers each club.
While there’s no singular definition or strict plan dictating what high tea must be (though we suspect King Charles might have a few thoughts!), this is an opportunity for clubs to showcase their unique personalities. Whether it’s cupcakes in croquet ball colours or a spread of finger sandwiches and biscuits, the decision is yours to make. Celebrate the quirks and traditions that make your club a welcoming and enjoyable place to be.
Croquet Queensland’s aim is to handle the administrative tasks, lightening the load so clubs can focus on what they do best: creating warm, inviting, and memorable experiences for new visitors. We encourage you to embrace the ‘fun parts’ of the event and share them with pride. And remember, the only thing we ask is that you take photos—we can’t wait to see your unique interpretations of high tea!

I think High Tea could be scones with strawberry jam and cream with a few different tea varieties. Maybe white bread and buttered cucumber rectangles with no crusts of course that we could make ourselves as required. I'm guessing all of that for 50 people might be about $250 if we have to pay full price for everything.
