Gracemere Croquet Club welcomed 12 guests who braved the heat and enjoyed a great chat, delicious treats and a few games in the evening when it cooled down a bit! Several were interested in coming more regularly and one has already invited another friend.

@Point-Lookout what is the game with the coloured pegs all close together?

  • Bookings

Hi Jocelyn. A lot of Clubs preferred to run the event on a different date, so the centralised marketing plan and booking funnel would no longer work effectively for this event. Hopefully, all the work that went into setting this up can be redirected to another promotion later in the year. For your own Croquet & High Tea event, set up your marketing to take bookings yourself. I have made an Event on our Club's Facebook page where people can RSVP. I can share the link on my own page and even send it in text messages or emails to people who aren't on facebook. I am planning to convert my link to a QR code, which I will add to some printed flyers to post around town.

  • CROQUET AND HIGH TEA: PLAN
    K Kylie Dwyer

It would be really helpful to know if we have a budget to work with when planning our catering, even if it is a minimum 'run the event' budget and then a per-person attending top-up if that is the way it is going to be distributed

  • What games should we play?
    K Kylie Dwyer

Which game do you think is best to engage new players: Aussie, Golf? And should we stick with 'proper' games, or use party-game versions?

  • Are men allowed?
    K Kylie Dwyer

@M-Eddiehausen of course, but the event and the marketing will be targeted towards women because the funding is from the Government's Active Women and Girls Grant

@PennyVerrall I think having at least a 'starter text' is very helpful and everyone can decide how to best deliver that depending on their current relationship 😀

Can we provide something like this (with the extra pertinent details, tags, links added when available)

    Dear ‘what’s on / advertiser’
Please promote our Free Croquet & High Tea event celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8. Our Flyer is attached.

    Croquet & High Tea
8 March, at your nearest Croquet Club
Ladies, are you looking for a fun social activity or want to meet some new friends? Croquet is easy to learn, provides light physical activity and is mentally engaging. It’s a great way to keep the mind and body active. Croquet is ideal for active aging and for those wanting to increase their activity levels gently. Come and try it for yourself.
Take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy a fun outing with delicious snacks provided. Contact your nearest Club and join us as we celebrate this International Women’s Day on the 8th March with a free Croquet & High Tea event.

Croquet clubs across Queensland are offering this activity to introduce new participants to the sport. This is a Croquet Queensland initiative and is made possible by the Queensland Government Active Women & Girls grant funding: to enable Queenslanders to participate in sport and recreation activities.

  • What advertising is planned?
    K Kylie Dwyer

is there an ETA on the graphics? 8 March is just 6 weeks away and I guess many clubs are still in holiday mode 🙂 so will need to get a flying start. Most radio, TV, and the remaining few newspapers like about 6 weeks notice for their community events sections and Council 'what's on' websites and community news pages often take a week or more to approve posts.
I'd like a customisable poster/flyer that we can put our Club address, time and date info into before printing/posting and a social media sized image to put with posts or to create a FB event

Has someone written advertising copy to send to media outlets?

  • What constitutes "high tea"?
    K Kylie Dwyer

I want to know this too. What do people expect at a "High Tea" do you need the full fancy china experience, or is yummy cakes and slices all that matters?

  • Sponsorship
    K Kylie Dwyer

Because each Club will be hosting their own event, there should be no issues or conflicts engaging with your regular sponsors and supporters. The only factor to consider is if, for example, your Council is a sponsor and there are other Clubs in the same Council area... maybe an opportunity to collaborate - give the sponsor wider coverage and nearby Clubs can cross-promote if running events at different times??
