CroquetWade's September Work Report
What has been built for Queensland croquet, item by item: what is ready to use, what is next, and what it means for clubs.
Fourteen pieces of work for Queensland croquet, each with a plain status and what it means for clubs.

1. Membership
The membership database is clean and ready to use in myCroquet.
Every club committee member holds a myCroquet membership card.
Not all management committee members have logged in yet.
Since 1 July, 34 of 151 club committee members have logged in, and 8 of the 10 management committee members. Logging in simple. There is no password. It will remember you for a month.
The more committee members who log in, the more useful it is for every club.
2. Club details
Club details are live and ready to use.
This is the information that helps administration of the game operate smoothly.
Clubs will need to check that their entries are complete. If they do not want to complete it they don't have to,
A complete entry will lift the visibility of the club.
3. Coaching and refereeing
The accreditations module has been live in myCroquet since 16 September.
Records have been corrected and merged.
Poor data will require people's input to correct unknown or incorrect info.
4. Calendar
The 2027 CAQ events calendar has been rebuilt from scratch. It replaces the hand-kept calendar. The next draft is ready for review. Clubs will be able to enter their fixtures for now or future seasons. Those regions demanding to be first in line can put the 2028 event days in now if they wish. CroquetClaude can make live calendar additions edits directly when a club asks by email.
5. ClubHub
ClubHub will be the for club information and updates. It'll have guides on anything and everything EFTPOS to lawnspray, the forum, and a CroquetClaude's diary of what is being worked on.
This is the place where we want clubs to help clubs. The now to help the future with information.
Clubs will value this, I spoke to Twin Rivers for 2 hours on Sunday about how they work and issues they have. Our clubs have the ability to compliment each other very well.
6. Grants module
The grants module is ready for use. It lists the local and state grants open to clubs and the things that are required to submit the grant.
It has tools to assist in selecting and planning. If clubs know what they want, and have it semi-prepared when the appropriate grant opens the request is ready to finalise.
Clubs can choose what help they want with writing. Suggestions, full write or proofread.
One or two experienced grant writers would make a massive difference to clubs.
Also has every clubs local councillor & parliamentarians' details.
7. Website
croquetqld.org has been rebuilt as complete site. It no longer sits inside the RevSport template.
In June the site did not appear in the top 10 for "croquet queensland".
The new site went live on 4 August.
On 9 September it was on the first on Google for 7 of the 8 searches we tested. In June it listed first on ZERO of the 8.
8. AI
On 9 September we asked four AI tools six questions about croquet in Queensland.
- Gemini named croquet on 6 of 6
- ChatGPT named croquet on 5 of 6.
- Google AI Overview now cites CAQ pages on 2 of 3 questions.
- Perplexity now names CAQ as the peak body and cites Hoopla 12 times on one question.
AI tools bring croquet up nearly every time when questioned in areas targeted.
9. News
The Hoopla news site is ready to use. Everyone should be encouraged to submit news, photos, opinion pieces, coaching bits, anything croquet related.
Brisbane AC Pennants submitted news. East Brisbane submitted news. Bribie Island did. Queensland State Golf Team didn't.
This also works alongside of the main site and Club Hub to have us entrenched in Google & AI referencing.
10. Job board
The job board is done. (Task board if you want)
What needs to go up there? Tell me what you want it to do and I'll organise it for you.
11. Handicap system
The handicap system is available to use in myCroquet if it is requested. It is flexible to fit in with whatever workflow.
12. Facebook/Come and Try
The Facebook account recovery/setup is completed. All ads were paused while it restarts.
Will begin again. The original results might not be achievable after our followers reported our ads, but the tests will tell us.
90+% of the advertising budget remains. It will be spent to get good returns.
13. AI policy
The draft AI policy went to the core committee on 28 August with the workshop video. Two points matter most:
- Referencing. Anything written with AI help must indicate that is true.
- Data privacy. Member information must only go into AI tools which satisfy high privacy standards.
From 10 December 2026, new Privacy Act rules on automated decisions start. The committee should adopt this policy and its two key points before then.
Adopting it earlier would set croquet up to receive government attention (and funding?) as a class leader.
Policy based on Federal Government recommended policy and traditional referencing practices.
No feedback or questions received.
14. Data retention
Question for the committee: do we need to hold members' addresses? Holding less lowers all privacy.
CroquetClaude: the postulate and common notions
These are the core beliefs/instructions of Croquet Claude
Postulate: Use AI with his service, not AI as his service. People and solutions for people first.
CN1: It needs to work more than it needs to be perfect.
CN2: The 6 Aims say what the work is for. Every job must serve at least one.
CN3: The 4 Ideals say the spirit of how the aims should be done. Enjoy Croquet. Keep it simple. Focus on outcomes & aims. Co-operate.
CN4: Keep it simple. Plain English for understanding. Work to find the correct answer, that is more important than agreeing.
CN5: Proof to add. Nothing enters unless it traces to these axioms and fits what is already there. Every claim must have a reference so it can be checked to be correct.
CN6: Human words stay whole, and they stay apart from machine words.
