A Historical Photos module for club trophies and honour boards
Photograph an old print or honour board on your phone and myCroquet straightens, crops and drafts a description, ready for you to check and publish.
A new myCroquet feature lets members photograph old club prints, trophies and honour boards on their phone and have the system automatically straighten, crop and describe each one, ready for a member to check and publish to a public historical record. Built and proven on the test system in July 2026, still awaiting the final go-ahead.
What the problem was
Clubs are full of history that mostly stays on a wall or in a cupboard: old newspaper clippings, honour boards, trophies engraved with decades of winners. None of it was recorded anywhere a club could search, share or simply not lose if the clubhouse ever changed hands.
What was built
A "Historical Photos" tool inside myCroquet built for exactly this kind of everyday phone photo, not a professional scan:
- A member photographs an object, a print, trophy or honour board, and can upload up to around a hundred photos at once, useful for walking along a whole wall of honour boards in one go.
- The system automatically straightens, crops and cleans up each photo, correcting for the angle a phone photo is usually taken at, while keeping the original untouched photo as well.
- It drafts a description and a rough decade for each item, which the member who submitted it can then check, correct or add their own memory to. The system does the tidying; the person supplies the story.
- Once a member approves their own submission, it's published to a public historical record other members and visitors can browse.
Turnaround is quick, roughly one to two minutes per photo, so a member can submit a batch and start reviewing the first ones while the rest are still processing.
What it means for you
Once available to your club, anyone can turn a phone full of photos of an honour board or an old trophy cabinet into a proper, searchable historical record, without needing a scanner or any special skill. Just a phone and a few minutes to check the result.
Where it stands
Built and tested end to end on the club test system as of 14 July 2026. A real phone photo of an old print, a trophy, an honour board and a difficult phone-format image were all uploaded, processed and published successfully in testing. It is not yet switched on for any club; that's Wade's call once he's reviewed it.
