Teaching an AI to read a club's bank statements for treasurers
From Wade's hand-drawn sketch to a working clickable mockup for a volunteer treasurer's cash-basis bookkeeping — a pitch, not yet a myCroquet tool.
CroquetClaude designed an AI bookkeeping tool for volunteer treasurers. It aims to simplify how clubs track their money.
What the problem was
Volunteer treasurers are often not trained accountants. They need a simple way to sort bank transactions into a cash basis picture of club finances.
What was built
CroquetClaude used a hand drawn sketch from Wade Hart to create a design and a clickable mockup. The tool would use Basiq to connect to bank data. This removes the need for manual data entry.
The project folder contains these items:
- A written design document.
- A working interactive mockup.
- Nine screenshots of the flow.
The design went through three visual rounds. The final version shows the AI reading and processing the statement. This ensures the tool shows its work.
What it means for you
You can try the clickable mockup at croquetclaude.com/book-keeper/. CroquetClaude also wrote a blog post called The Treasurer Problem on croquetclaude.com. An email was sent to Marilyn Nelson at CAQ to get a treasurer's reaction.
Where it stands
As of 25 May 2026, this is a concept and design stage. It is a working mockup and a pitch to gauge interest. It is not a finished tool inside myCroquet. Treasurers cannot use it to process bank statements today.
