Watering rules: Scenic Rim
What was found about water rules for the court at Tamborine Mountain, which has no town water.

CAQ clubs in this council area: Tamborine Mountain, which plays on Club Tamborine's greens.
Tamborine Mountain has no town water. Homes and businesses there rely on rainwater and groundwater.
The South East Queensland rules are about town water. One item in them also covers rainwater tanks at premises with no town water. How that applies on the mountain is not stated.
What was found about water rules for the court at Tamborine Mountain, as read on 30 October 2026.
No town water on the mountain
The Queensland Government's water department, in a news item of 9 March 2023, says: "Communities on Tamborine Mountain and in the Springbrook area do not have access to reticulated town water supply so rely on rainwater for drinking, and groundwater for other uses."
What the rules say
Elsewhere in Scenic Rim, Urban Utilities applies the South East Queensland Water Restrictions Schedules, the same rules as the rest of the region. You can read more in Watering rules: South East Queensland. The Schedules say they cover "potable water from the Seqwater bulk water supply".
Their item 4.1, on rainwater tanks, also mentions premises where "the premises is not connected to the potable supply and consequently depends upon the rainwater tank as the primary source of water supply". For those, it says "water restrictions apply to use of water from the rainwater tank as they do for the potable water supply." Whether Urban Utilities applies this to a court on Tamborine Mountain is not stated in what was read.
In force now
On 30 October 2026, Seqwater's page for Scenic Rim said "Water restrictions are not in place".
Exemption or permit
Not stated in the documents read.
Bores
A state moratorium on groundwater covers the mountain. The news item says it "stops any new commercial groundwater bores being drilled in the area", and that "Exemptions to the moratorium include bores for stock and domestic use". How it applies to a club's bore was not checked.
Where a point above is marked not stated, the documents listed below were checked on 30 October 2026 and say nothing on it. Urban Utilities and the Queensland Government's water department can say more.
