Watering rules: Toowoomba
What Toowoomba Regional Council publishes about water restrictions, and a water charges rebate for sporting clubs.

CAQ clubs in this council area: Laurel Bank, Toowoomba and West Toowoomba.
On 30 October 2026 the council said: "Water restrictions are currently in place across the Toowoomba Region." Toowoomba city was on the Low level.
The restrictions page has rules for lawns but no line for sports grounds or courts was found.
A separate council policy gives a water charges rebate to some sporting clubs.
What Toowoomba Regional Council publishes about water restrictions, as read on 30 October 2026.
What the rules say
No rule for sports grounds or courts was found on the council's restrictions page. Whether the council treats a croquet court as a lawn is not stated. The page's rules for established lawns are:
- Low: "before 10am and after 4pm on any day except Monday".
- Medium: odd-numbered premises on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and even or unnumbered premises on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. In summer the times are "5.30pm – 6.30pm".
- High: "Watering established lawns from the town supply is not permitted under this restriction level."
The page also has an Extreme level. Each level is set town by town.
In force now
The council's page says: "Water restrictions are currently in place across the Toowoomba Region." The page's town lookup, checked on 30 October 2026, put Toowoomba city on the Low level. Some nearby towns were on higher levels.
Exemption or permit
No exemption process was found on the restrictions page.
Tank, bore and recycled water
The page says: "If water from the reticulated supply is used to refill tanks then the restrictions above for the relevant type of water use must be adhered to." Bores and recycled water are not stated.
A rebate on water charges
This is about water charges, not restrictions. The council's policy 2.74, Water Charges Concession for Community Sporting Organisations (adopted 30 July 2025), offers a rebate to "eligible community sporting organisations that maintain soft playing fields". The policy is for organisations that own their land, pay its rates and have no working bore. An application "must be supported by a water management plan (to Council's satisfaction)". Whether a croquet lawn counts as a soft playing field is not stated.
Where a point above is marked not stated or not found, the documents listed below were checked on 30 October 2026 and say nothing on it. The council can say how the rules apply to the club's courts.
