Watering rules: Tweed Shire (NSW)
What Tweed Shire Council publishes about water restrictions for greens and sports fields.

CAQ clubs in this council area: Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads.
The council has rules for bowling and golf greens, and for the play areas of sports fields. Croquet is not named.
On 30 October 2026 the council said: "There are currently no water restrictions." The dam was at 100%.
The council's restrictions do not cover bore water, but it asks people not to use bores when restrictions start.
What Tweed Shire Council (New South Wales) publishes about water restrictions for sports grounds, as read on 30 October 2026.
When levels start
Levels depend on the dam: Level 1 below 85%, Level 2 below 75%, Level 3 below 65%, Level 4 below 55%, and Emergency below 45%.
What the rules say
For "Water bowling and golf greens", the council's page says:
- Level 1: "With sprinkler or handheld hose with trigger control, 45 minutes only, 3 times a week 5–7 am or 5–7 pm".
- Level 2: the same, "2 times a week".
- Level 3: the same, "once a week".
- Level 4: under "You cannot", the page lists "Water bowling greens".
For "Water cricket pitches and play areas of sports fields, tennis courts" the pattern is the same but "30 minutes only". Croquet is not named, so which row applies to a croquet court is not stated.
In force now
The council's page says: "There are currently no water restrictions." Its dam level showed 100% "as at 30 October 2026".
Exemption or permit
The council's page says: "In limited circumstances, Council may grant exemptions from water restrictions, usually for a specific action at a specific time." There is an online application form.
The council's business page says: "If you use more than 50,000 litres a day, you must have a Council-approved water efficiency management plan to operate." Whether that reaches a croquet club is not stated.
Tank, bore and recycled water
The council's page says: "Having a rainwater tank does not exempt you from water restrictions." It adds that "Water restrictions apply for properties with rainwater tanks connected to town supply (nearly all rainwater tanks in urban areas)" and for tanks "topped up by water carters".
On bores it says: "Council's water restrictions apply to the reticulated water supply only. However Council asks you not to use bore water when water restrictions are triggered". Recycled water is not stated.
Where a point above is marked not stated, the documents listed below were checked on 30 October 2026 and say nothing on it. The council can say how the rules apply to the club's courts.
