Google advertising: who sees it, where it appears, what it costs
A summary of the July 2026 report to the Management Committee. The full report is attached at the foot of the page.
Croquet Queensland runs a display advertising campaign on Google. It costs about fifty dollars a month. This page sets out what it does, who sees it, where it appears and what it costs. The full report is linked at the foot of the page.
What it is for
The campaign is shown to people who have already visited croquetqld.org or the news site. It does not sell anything and it does not chase clicks. It keeps croquet in front of people who already know it, between the times they would otherwise think about it.
About six hundred people are on the two lists. Each of them sees a croquet advertisement about six times a week. There is a cap of three views per person per day.
Who sees it
| Audience | People |
|---|---|
| Visitors to croquetqld.org | 330 |
| Readers of the news site | 260 |
| Everyone else | none |
Until July the campaign also let Google find people it judged similar to ours. Every impression bought up to that point went to that expansion. The advertisements were running in mobile puzzle games. That setting is off now. Only people who have been to one of the two sites can see the advertisements.
What the advertisements are
They carry articles from the news site, three at a time. Each one links to its own article. Each article is built in six sizes, so eighteen advertisements run at once.
Once a week the system reads the news site, writes the wording, crops the pictures, puts the new advertisements up, and takes the old ones down once their replacements are confirmed running. Nobody does this by hand.
Where it appears
In the seven days to 29 July 2026 the advertisements appeared on Yahoo, Seven News, Nine, the Guardian, the Sydney Morning Herald, MSN and the New Daily.
Fifteen sites were reported in all.
A check runs every Monday. It blocks any site selling space at under twenty five cents per thousand views, after two weeks at that price. Every block is recorded with its reason and can be undone.
What it costs
| Measure | Figure |
|---|---|
| Daily budget | $1.65 |
| Spent, last 30 days | $37.06 |
| Spent, last 7 days | $10.82 |
| Views, last 7 days | 3,599 |
| Cost per thousand views | $3.01 |
| Advertisements in rotation | 18 |
The audience is the ceiling here, not the budget. With six hundred people and a cap of three views each a day, more money would buy repetition. The budget is staying where it is.
