When we come together to enjoy a game of croquet, we want everyone to feel safe and secure. That's why Safety and Risk Management is a important for our clubs. It's not about wrapping everything in cotton wool, but about taking sensible steps to look after each other and the club itself.

Why is focusing on safety so crucial?

    • Protecting People: Our primary duty is to ensure the wellbeing of our members, volunteers, visitors, and especially any children involved in club activities. We want everyone to enjoy croquet without unnecessary risk of injury or harm.
    • Meeting Legal & Insurance Obligations: As a club, we have legal responsibilities (like Work Health & Safety duties and child protection laws) and requirements under our insurance policies to manage risks effectively.
    • Safeguarding Club Reputation: A safe club is a welcoming club. Demonstrating a commitment to safety builds trust and enhances the club's standing in the community.
    • Protecting Club Assets: Managing risks helps prevent damage to our facilities, courts, and equipment.
    • Creating a Positive Environment: When people feel safe and secure, they can relax and fully enjoy the social and sporting aspects of our croquet club.

Thinking proactively about potential risks and putting simple safety measures in place isn't bureaucracy – it's simply good practice and part of being a responsible community club. The following topics cover key areas we need to consider.
