New treasurer? Start here

The four treasurer guides on ClubHub, in the order a new treasurer needs them: duties, records, year-end and banking.

New to the treasurer's job? ClubHub already has a guide for each part of it. Read them in this order.

The steps

  1. Know your duties. As treasurer of an incorporated association, you are an officer under Queensland law, with four personal legal duties. Read Treasurer — Officer Duties.
  2. Keep the records. What the law requires you to keep, prepare and verify each year, and which tier applies to your club. Read Treasurer — Financial Records.
  3. Learn the year-end sequence. Prepare the accounts, present them at the AGM, then lodge with the Office of Fair Trading. Read Treasurer — Annual Obligations.
  4. Sort out the banking. Fee-free club accounts, card machines and bank grants. Read The Treasurer's Guide to Banking and EFTPOS.
