Using the Tournament Handicap Record form

How to download the THR form, fill it in by typing or by hand, and send it back to CAQ after the event.

The Tournament Handicap Record form (the THR form) records each player's handicap at the start and finish of a tournament. It is downloaded, filled in, and emailed to CAQ after the event.

Players' names can be filled in with typing before printing. Or it can be printed blank and filled in by hand.

There is only one version of the form, use the same file however you choose to fill it in.

What is on the form

  • At the top: event name, club or venue, the code (tick AC, GC or RC), the start and finish dates, and "Page __ of __".
  • In the middle: 16 rows, one for each player. Each row has the player's ACA ID, full name and club, then their handicap and index at the START and at the FINISH.
  • At the bottom: the Tournament Manager's printed name, signature and the date.

You do not need the ACA ID if you write the player's full name and club.

Three ways to fill it in

Any of these three ways is fine.

  1. All by hand. Print the form blank. Players write in their own details on the day, as before.
  2. Type first, then write. Type the players' details in on a computer before the event, then print it. At the end, you only write the finish numbers by hand.
  3. Type it all in. Fill in every box on the computer.

If you are writing by hand

The form asks you to:

  • Write one digit in each box, in black pen
  • Have corrections be obvious.
  • Keep each number inside its own column. Writing that spills into the next column is hard to read and mistakes are more likely.

If you are typing

  1. Open the form.
  2. Click a box and type.
  3. For the ACA ID, index and date boxes, type the whole number. It will put one digit to each box.
  4. Click a code box to tick it.
  5. Then print and save it if you need to.

More than 16 players

Use a second page, or more.

Fill in the page boxes, for example "Page 1 of 2" and "Page 2 of 2".

Sending it back

Email the completed form to hello@croquetqld.org. Please send every page.

A scan or a clear phone photo is fine. When taking a photo:

  • fit the whole page in the picture
  • lay the page flat
  • use good light.

A clear phone photo is fine.

The photo doesn't need to be perfect, but it needs to be read.

The information on the form is put into the handicap records.

Members can see their handicap on their myCroquet handicap card. Our earlier guide, The handicap card is live on myCroquet, covers the handicap card.

How it fits our ideals and aims

The form follows the ideal Keep it simple. Names can be entered before the day, or handwritten by players. One form, one email address and a phone photo keep the paperwork small.

It serves three aims: Strengthen Admin, Support Clubs and Develop Skilled Play. Up-to-date handicaps after every event keep players informed of their progress.
