A message from the President: your club's member list is now on myCroquet

Dear Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers,

Your club's member list is now on myCroquet.

It does four things.

1. You can see your club's members.
2. You can add a new member.
3. You can change a member's details.
4. You can deactivate a member who has left.

That is all it does.

A simple list that is correct is what we need.

CAQ has to keep a register of members per our constitution. This is now how we keep it.

Nothing else is required of you. At its very core my.croquetqld.org is a membership list. It is designed to be as simple as possible to use.

There should be no need to repeated training sessions because the process is designed to be straight forward and self explanatory.

So here is what all that you need to do.

1. Sign in once at my.croquetqld.org with your email address.
2. Look at your membership list. There you can edit, deactivate or add members.
3. When a new member joins, add them in my.croquet.

If you get in and think "is that all it is?", good. That is what we were going for. This is the base level of the system. This is all that any club needs to do.

There will be other parts that build on this base. Things like custom websites, come and try promotion, secretary tools, grant assistance, bank reconciliation help for treasurers, history recording, event calander and event entry plus a whole lot of other administration assistance to help CAQ.

These things all rely on having our membership list well curated and kept with the minimal effort. The ideal that my.croquetqld.org matches with is 'keep it simple'.

I want people playing croquet, not worrying about administration of the game. People join croquet to play croquet, so the more time everyone spends playing the more healthy our clubs will be.

Administration is not the sexy part of the game. For most it is overlooked and for some the game's administrators are treated as a punching bag.

This is the first concrete steps to reframing the purpose of CAQ towards club assistance. Many ask 'What does CAQ do for us?' and the answer is, unless you are an elite state competition player- not much.

Under my presidency that changes. I want healthy clubs and healthy clubs begin with having a solid base to work from.
